Ecosuite is in relentless pursuit of our vision to deliver cohesive and collaborative tools to the entire distributed energy ecosystem. At its core, Ecosuite is an asset management platform.

Today, we are executing on our vision for the industry by delivering the data infrastructure and digital tools that our customers need to measure and improve performance of their growing distributed energy resource (DER) portfolios. Importantly, Ecosuite is a major iteration on our industry’s historical lens on what “Asset Management” is and how it should be done, or as we like to call it, Asset Management 2.0. 

What is Asset Management 2.0?

1. Open Source foundations and edge-compute technology – data collection / standardization, and device interoperability are critical pillars of any asset management platform. Uniquely, Ecosuite offers open Edge Compute Nodes (ECNs) as a hardware solution that can fully replace and/or augment old-school, proprietary data acquisition systems (DAS). You can see the specs and purchase one here. We also offer API-based integrations to your existing systems. Our customers typically need both. And yes, all of the software infrastructure that makes this possible is – actually – open source. We believe Vendor lock-in will soon be a thing of the past. 2. Full lifecycle support – asset management starts WAY before assets are operating. Performance / maintenance management and provisioning grid services are critical, but they are the end game. Development, financing, underwriting is where it begins. Our platform is built to connect with, and enable these functions by integrating with common software tools and normalizing all of the data and documentation collected. Without pre-operational awareness – the job of managing an asset becomes much harder.
3. Flexible features and scalable pricing – we meet our customers where they are. Every organization is coming from a different starting point. No two tech stacks look the same. Budgets vary.  We understand it, and we support it. From the fundamentals to the future, we offer transparent asset management pricing that scales. 

Now we know what you’re thinking…where’s the fancy AI stuff?

This blog started with our vision – it’s no secret we think about the future a lot. We have tremendous clarity on the opportunity for AI to accelerate the energy transition. And as a software company, of course we are layering AI into our tools and products. This is table stakes. 

We are also aware that the uptake of AI in our customer’s tech stacks and day to day workflows will take time. So we are actively listening, building and testing. 

Today we have a few key AI tools that we offer:

1. Distillery: rapid data extraction and project onboarding. Imagine signing up for a new software system and having all of your important data and documents collected, organized and pre-populated for you. This is what the Distillery delivers. Leveraging LLMs, vision models, multi-layer data extraction and processing agents and an open standard data taxonomy, the result of the Distillery is efficiency and peace of mind – your portfolio’s technical data, financials, contact info and contractual obligations have found a home. This is about bringing clarity to complexity.

   

2. STEVIE: AI Assistant for everything (aka our Seriously Talented, Ever Vigilant, Industry Expert). Now that the Distillery has set the stage with neat and orderly data, our users can surface instantaneous insights via a chat room discussion with STEVIE and their team mates. It feels like magic, but it’s not. And this is just the beginning. This technology will continue to evolve and improve, but for the time being these are some of the areas and capabilities that this technology is assisting teams with: 

• Offering insight and resolutions to performance situations (e.g. Asset Management)
• Offering opinions on complex business decisions (e.g. Investment Committee Approvals) – central to this capability is Ecosuite’s AutoCIM tool.
• Answering questions of any form about any project, portfolio or any aspect of the business
• Answering general knowledge questions (e.g. about the industry or more broadly about society)

3. Foresight – Machine Learning (ML) to predict the future. Ecosuite is leading the DER industry with tooling and applications for ML. Most recently, in a partnership led by Data Scientists at Stony Brook University that leveraged Ecosuite’s edge compute technology, we have shown that ML models can accurately identify and predict hidden physical defects in solar arrays. This work is poised to reduce O&M budgets by upwards of 20% by surfacing missed equipment issues and increasing field dispatch efficiency. 
   
   With open access to data and open-source tooling for iterating on and improving these models – the sky is the limit for ML applications at the grid edge. Here are some of the tools we are deploying with customers:

• Fault detection (identifying the specific causes of equipment faults in real time)
• Preemptive fault detection (predicting future equipment faults via incipient fault detection)
• Predicting and validating weather adjusted generation and consumption patterns based on site-specific system history
